To Whom It May
Concern:
I am writing on
behalf of Ms. Stacy Kim, who is applying to Freeman Fellows Internship Program.
I taught Korean II to Ms. Kim during the fall 1998 semester. Since she was one
of my best students, I am very pleased to recommend you to give her a chance to
do an internship in Korea.
Ms. Kim was a
self-starter who effectively completed the class tasks and projects with little
supervision. Throughout the course, Ms. Kim showed the integrity and the
perseverance as well as academic excellence, which learning a foreign language
strongly requires. She demonstrated good problem-solving abilities and
excellent communication skills, and made valuable contributions to the class,
which helped other students as well as herself to achieve the course goals. She
was also liked by all of those with whom she was studying together in my class.
As far as I
know, Ms. Kim has a lot of experiences related to Korea and Korean culture.
First of all, as a second generation Korean American, she learned naturally the
values and thoughts of the Korean culture at home. Moreover, she went to Korea
through the study abroad program at USC for one semester last year, which I
believe helped her understand Korean people and culture more and better. I
think that these various experiences as well as her knowledge of, and enthusiasm
towards Korean language and culture would help her work successfully in any
situations in Korea. Therefore, I strongly recommend you to allow her to
realize her goal of working for Korean people either in Korea or in the United
States. Please feel free to call me at this number (213) 740-3713 if you have
any question regarding Ms. Kim. I will be more than happy to inform you
whatever you require.
Sincerely,
Sunhee Choi
